STRUCTURAL TESTING SERVICES

Proven experience in assisting design engineers in evaluating structural capacity.
At Braun Intertec, our experienced building science consultants provide structural testing services that include determination of the strength and condition of existing materials such as concrete, reinforcing bar, wood timbers and masonry walls. We typically work in concert with structural engineering firms to provide the data they can use in designing a structure. We use ground penetrating radar (GPR), coring, Windsor probes and other nondestructive testing to gather this data. We also provide services to carry out full-scale load testing to help determine the capacity of structures.

One of our most unique projects was testing the exterior building material at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. The “skin” material was tested for wind pressure, ice and impact loads. We also conducted a simulation test with the assistance of the structural engineer and project architect, that was intended to replicate how the impact from the wind and ice loads would affect the material's performance on the Walker’s exterior.
