PRODUCT TESTING
Product testing can be vital in the manufacturing process to determine if products meet manufacturer-established or regulatory specifications. At Braun Intertec, our laboratory technicians routinely work with many manufacturers to conduct a number of analyses related to product testing and product compliance. We can perform testing at the end of the manufacturing process or at multiple steps during the process.
The Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 applies to specific children’s products manufactured after February 10, 2009. Section 101 of the CPSIA regulates lead, which currently requires that third-party testing be conducted by an accredited lab. For more information about requirements specific to lead, see CPSIA, Section 101. Consumer Products Safety CommissionSection 108 of the CPSIA regulates the phthalate compounds. For more information about phthalates, see CPSIA, Section 108.
Analysis for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.
We provide product analysis to help you determine if your product meets the guidelines for the RoHS Directive. Since July 1, 2006, member states of the European Union have required that all electronic products brought to market are free of the heavy metals lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium. In addition, the groups of compounds known as polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), which are used as flame retardants, are also included in the directive. A few examples of the many items that are required to comply with the RoHS directive include household appliances, televisions, sports equipment with electronic components, telecommunications equipment and light bulbs. If you have questions about RoHS analysis and are interested in our RoHS testing capabilities, please contact us.
